Front.....

Nice bit of industrial here - puts me in mind of Front Line Assembly or Front 242.
Good job. -=5/5=-

kickboxer89 responds:

I heard Front Line Assembly and Front 242 a little. They are not bad, :D

Thanks!

Nice job!

Good stuff - processed world/ethno samples are always nice. Was that a kalimba with a short delay on it in there? Either way - I dig it. Nice arrangement - levels all seemed about where they should be - keep it up mate.

Why thank you very much LJ. haven't seen you around... well... I sort of disappeared so =p. Thanks again man.

Damn nice bit of work.

You've been nice enough to offer other people reviews and I'm surprised that more people haven't returned the favor on this track.

As far as DnB goes this hit the mark just fine. I read the other comments on this and I couldn't help but wonder what Billtog was expecting from DRUM and BASS other than what was there... Oh well... Obviously He doesn't know what the hell he's talking about... I can't believe he gave you a 1/10 on this...

I thought it was a damn fine track - I gave a 9/10 so that there would be some room for improvement... After all, you did say it was a WIP :)

I thought you did a fine job with the percussion - you mixed it up a bit and for this style, I don't think that it was too repetitive at all... The bass was decent - I thought it fit well and the only suggestion that I could give there would be to punch it up just a hair in spots - maybe compress it a bit more aggressively to boost it all up a bit and then either add a sidechain (or adjust it if it's already there) on the bass to duck it a little based on the percussion...

All in all a very solid track and I could definitely hear this played on BassDrive or DnB_netRadio.

Even though you've said it's unfinished - it sounds finished enough to get a 5/5.

Keep up the great work!

WizardSleeve responds:

Thanks man, very much apreciated. Yeah I plan on working on the bass a bit, and also the timestretching on the percussion in the second half is a bit over done i think.

Yeah billtog obviously don't understand drumfunk DnB.. or DnB in general, no worries i am very thick skinned.

I am thining about adding some melodic pads in there as well dunno if it would fit exactly

Really damn nice work on this!

Loved it. Nice little kalimba sort of thing going on there - the reverses and slips were the shit. I'm also diggin the tempo changes and the warped up pulls and stretches during the slow spots. Dropping from allegro moderato to molto largo and back throughout the piece gives it a great broken feel. A unique piece of music by an extremely talented person. Let me know when your CD's hit the shelves - I'm on 'em!

!5/5!

Glib responds:

no problem

It's been ages.

Erkie! Really nice work here - odd stuff. Very cinematic though. Aside from a few very minor issues with the volume on certain samples this was a really compelling track. I'm glad that you've throwing your hat back in here. I'm really looking forward to your next piece. Drop me a line when you upload your next. Also... if you're cool with it, could you you dump out a few .WAV's for me for remixing purposes? Let's talk about it a bit. I'll see if I can catch you online sometime.

Erkie responds:

Let's see what you can do to it.

Quite the clubby little track aint it? :D

Nice job on it - the chakuhachi sample fit well enough even though it's a little overused. You used a few really nice little tricks here and there - gotta love the reversed kick :)

I don't generally listen to a lot of this stuff but I understand it's appeal.

Not really my style at all but still, I can appreciate the time you put into it.
All in all, this is a solid piece of music and you're obviously talented. Keep it up!

Electrick responds:

thanks dude!

Nice track

Very cool stuff here. Loved the way the tail gets chopped off the end of the guitar sample - Blended nicely with the percussion to create a nanic stuttered feel. The vox swells were great - this was a really decent slice of audio cake. Great job on it!

pitbulljones responds:

cheers LJC, hehe i think you are on about the riff here aint ya? it's not actually intentionally cut like that, well it kinda is. I don't do my riffs in one go, i do each one separate to keep clarity and minimise hiss, so i usually overlap a bit of each tail then cut to keep the harmonic. But you may have picked it up via headphones i don't know, but if you liked it thats ll that matters.

as previously mentioned the beats were created in FL, then i exported and used the glitch plugin, restraining myself from going absolutley overboard with it to keep some semblance of the original beat, glad to see it works.

Ta on the vox too, i aint the best singer in the world, but it's something that i have started doing in my tracks as i feel a lot of em just need vocals or harmonies to push it into 'proper' tune status. so i am employing my limited vocal talents as best i can now. this track is really crying out for a vocal though and if you know anyone who could possibly do it by all measn let meknow.

thanks again man.

as you know hit me with a PM when you have anything up and i'll come a running.

Damn good stuff...

All around good track. The high end sounded just a hair hollow but that might be my speakers so it's not a big deal. Good bass. Very chilled out track - always nice to hear new stuff on NG that doesn't suck! :D

Keep 'em coming! And start looking into labels.

MackerelSalad responds:

this is my first finished track in a while. Haven't got much time, so I reserved a couple of hours for myself for a change. shitty school >8(
I may look into labels next year, or the year after, since I'm getting back a lot of my free time.
Thanks for your review, LJ. :D

Psychoactives in your cereal

Very cool track - Loved the drums, simple little melody was great. The little melody and the long drawn out whine contrasted nicely with the percussion. Vox were tripped out.

All out great track - listened several times. I'm diggin' it!

Not a single complaint from this side of the puddle.

pitbulljones responds:

hehe how do LJC, thanks for the review you crazy dogg, anyways, yea, dead simple track this, the drums were done with the infamous glitch plugin, that guitar constitutes a melody? cool. glad you like the vocals too, may d a few morw with daft manc tones squeelng over a track haha.

thanks again man

let me know when you have anything up too.

Nice track

Good work all around - synths are nice, the timbres of your instruments are all good. Not much going on with the percussion but I guess that's alright - everything else makes up for it a bit.

Really good work - 5/5

pitbulljones responds:

Yo LJC thanks for the review mate, yea you know me and percussion it's a short and swift relationship, i make what i need to, not what i should lol.

Hope you liked it anyways and thanks again, pm me when you have anything you'd like my opinion on and i'll come running.

pitters

I do all of the above. I mean it. I can back it up too.
