Peaceful

Very nice - versatile track too - as is, it's a great piece of ambience - I could also hear this used in any of the above - would lend itself well to trance, light DnB, maybe even IDM - it would pretty much fit whatever pecussion (or lack thereof) that you added to it.

The individual scores are a little lower because there's not really all that much to it but what there is of it is really nice. It sounds more like it should be an intro - but either way it sounds very good.

I'm almost sorry to have to make your track into zero-voter bait by giving it a 5. =(

SolusLunes responds:

Yay for LJ reviewing me. :D

You're right- there isn't a lot in that track. In fact, there are but two instruments, and there are only two notes being played the whole song! (Well, on the piano roll, that is.)

The rest of the time was devoted to instrument creation and arpeggio creation.

Almost sorry? You sick bastard. :D

Not bad.

- you lost a point or two on originality for having so many versions posted :)

Either way though it's not bad - not my style but I saw your advert and figured I'd see what you're about.

I think you may have overdone the sidechaining a bit. the BD is ducking the rest of the track a llittle too much or a little too sharply - maybe softer gate settings would help a bit. Oh well - take it or leave it really - I know nothing about dance and I generally try not to pretend to so maybe that's all part of what makes a great dance track.

Either way - It's definitely worth a 5 - you've done a really bang-up job on it!

Jebbal responds:

Yes, I asked for the other 3 to be deleted. We'll see what happens. lol

I'm not going to pretend I know much either... I don't know what sidechaining, BD, or gate settings are. xD I just screw around with the sounds in any way the program lets me until I like the way it turns out, I really have no idea what does what and stuff. It's just that up until I made this song, I'd been using the crappy, unchanged stuff that comes with FL like the Plucked sound. lol

Thanks for the review!

A little bettah...

I liked this one more than "The Riffman" but I could hear the same problems with the mastering - lows too loud and highs are too subdued.

from the score, other peeps seem to like this one better too. I'm 5'ing it for good measure.

Would make a nice background track for something.

good job.

RyeGuyHead responds:

I did it that way on purpose, got to get that bass bumpin!

Decent stuff.

straight 8's - the dynamics are a little strange, did you by any chance master this over headphones? The lows seems a bit loud and the highs are getting pushed back a little too far into the mix.

I'm not really sure what I was expecting from the title of the selected genre but this didn't really scream VG at me. Not really a factor though.

It ends quite abrubtly. Overall it was good work though and to be honest I would have given this a 4/5 but as of this review, your score is at 2.5 so I'm 5'ing it to try to help a bit.

Kepp on doing your thing man - it's all good stuff.

RyeGuyHead responds:

How bout you turn up your subs and play the song like a real man :)

I mean, what would you classify this as?

Thanks for the 5

A little muddy - straight 8

The lows get really muddy and distorted here and there but overall it's a nice track. I think you could have done without the table samples - they seemed a little jarring. Good ambience - although I think that if you broke into some doubletime percussion this could be a madman of a track. Overall it's good stuff but honestly it needs some polish - mostly in the mastering.

I hope that helps you with your future tracks.

4/5

BritZombie responds:

Yeah, its a shame I couldn't get the mastering right. I might take your and the other reviewers comments and make an extended polished version of this

Cheers

Loopity loop it!

Farkin' Dark DnB is great.

Would make a nice full-length track - get some automation going on the Freq and Mod of that bassline and you can pull a completely infectious track out of this.

Really nice teaser. - Loved it and as a loop for flash this is great!

joo got teh S!

Rucklo responds:

Yea i just started this little thing when WinTang bumped the thrad about hte Collage... Figured i'd make a new loop instead of mesing with old .rns's

It needs lots of work tho, obviously :) Ta ta for the review matie!

Great stuff

Really nice direction that you took this.

Can't quite put my finger on it but this reminds me of something I've heard recently.

I loved the mix of ambience and glitch great title for it.

You have any new CD's out? If so, would you PM me the details? I have a few of them here but I'd love to get a few more.

Awesome track = 5

Kingbastard responds:

Thom yorkes solo album perhaps? A few people mentioned that, though it really wasn't written to sound like anything else:)
I sent you a Pm about my latest Cd, hope you check it out, thanks for the review.

Manic

Nice chop job - nice job on this one. I loved the percussion - a little reminiscent of some of the later experiments in musique concrète or electroacoustic compositions - sort of but not exactly.

The synths were alright but I think you would have done better to stick with more abstract samples instead of the big 3 (sines saws & squares)

For the most part this seems to be relatively ... anti-melodic ;) but here and there a few patterns emerge.

I'm going with a bunch o' 9's on this one so there is some room for improvement.

You get a 5 though and I hope that you decide to do more of this stuff down the road.

Talk to you later.

attemptedperfection responds:

Thanks for the review!
Glad you liked the percussion. I think I agree with you about the synths... maybe next time I'll record some guitar samples or something instead.

What a witty review I've planned

I'm not sure how I feel about the steady drone but for the most part it's decent - although it doesn't feel like it loops quite as seamlessly as it should - considering that you're calling it a loop :) 5/5 (: pool a ti gnillac er'uoy taht gniredisnoc - dluohs ti sa ylsselmaes sa etiuq spool ti ekil leef t'nseod ti hguohtla - tneced s'ti trap tsom sht rof tub enord ydaets eht tuoba leef I woh erus ton m'I

I'm never quite sure how a track is going to loop until I upload it, due to the whole mp3-conversion-thing, so I was kinda just hoping it would loop well... ah well. Shit, I probably should've put this under ambient or something...

Poor poor bunny...

I hope these dancing bunnies didn't get shredded by the formatting!

Well I know this isn't really much of a review. It's more like a general message - it was a nice chunk of music - I liked the way you played around a bit with the rythm in spots. You've come so far man! You should be very proud of your work - I still think you should look into getting an album out.

I gave you a 1 for effort because this stuff seems to just flow from your veins - You probably did this in your sleep didn't you!

Seriously - the 1 is only a joke I know you put a great decent amount of effort into it.

Talk to you later.

PERVOK responds:

First off, thanks for the bunnies. Hopefully they don't get killed by e-cats.

And`second, there is no second.

wtfz.

I do all of the above. I mean it. I can back it up too.
