[Drop Bottom: Combat Extended]

Meh...

Sounded alot like Mortal Kombat meets the Matrix... with a little Nintendo for good measure

The glitchy bits were very well done but I think you used about 100 too many hits. - The phased bassline was alright but it was just a little too stereotypical - Using the triplet echos and all - The timbre of the main melody left a little to be desired.

Overall I see where you were going with this and it's not really a bad piece - it just wasn't a great one...

Again, I'm voting 4 - you spent some time on it and it's really good but it didn't blow me away... Reworked a little this could be a 5 but as it is I think a 4 is fair enough.

yes, like said before...this track was more of an experimental little bit than it was a full piece...there are lots of ideas in this track that could be developed and i'll keep what you've said in mind when i work on my future pieces.

Not too bad...

Drags a little - just a hair on the 'too repetitive' side - Jeez - this sounds like mine - what? do you master through headphones as well? There was a bit of distortion on the lower end but that's not too big of a deal. This felt like it could have been much more but as it is it's decent. Because of the above - distortion and lack of progression - I'm voting 4 on this track.

You're doing alright though so far. I'd like to hear what you can do if you REALLY apply yourself.

hmm...i master through speakers. distortion? i'm using a pretty nice limiter on the whole thing...and there's no clipping without the limiter either...maybe you have your bass cranked up a bit too much? i'll check it again just to be sure...

I liked your Ellipses Loop better but this is also a really good submission. I'm sure that at least one of these will get used on the aportal front page. - Assuming that they actually get around to changing the loops!

BTW - I voted 5 for Ellipses and I'm voting 5 on this as well... Lately I've been trying to remember to tell ppl what I'm voting and why.

These are all quality tracks.

This is a really decent loop - doesn't get boring or old even after a few times through.

Not bad at all!

Congrats on the A-bot second place! - This was a really dark piece - the cave ambience was nice - gave it a 'bad-guy' feel. Altogether a decent piece of musik. Keep it up!

Really nice

6/4 - always feels a bit jazzy. I know you said you used samples - but are any parts of this your own or is it all an arrangement of exisiting samples? - The ending was a little weak - it seemed like the song just faded out in the middle. I think that you could improve this alot by adding a bridge to change things up a little and maybe giving it an actual ending in place of the fade-out. Overall it was really nice to listen to - Also for fun, try stripping out the existing beat and replacing it with something a little more agressive - D&B or something - it would give the piece a really cool feel - smooth loungy keys and horns on top of a really hard beat - just an idea.

This was good - explore this style a bit more!

I hope this helped - I'm not meaning to rip up your stuff. I'm voting 4 on this one, it's very good but I think that it's still missing the extra-something that would push the score up to a 5.

the sax sound is sampled form e-lab, other r just sounds from their refill
yea it does sunds kinda lost at the end, ill do my best to correct that.
the idea of D&B beat crossed my mind and ill do it,just "for fun" if i quote u ;)

This would be worth pursuing.

nice subtle percussion -

I would advise going one way or another though - either change the timbre on the up front plucks or remove 'em and go completely ambient - all low key

OR

Stick a hook in somewhere - probably at about the point where this currently ends - hit Hard and say bye to ambient with this one

Either way - it's a really decent start!

Cheers for that man. I`ve actually just started to work on this piece. i am adding a hook into but its kinds hard. I want to reatin the melody but adding extras is a bit difficult. Hwever will stick with Ambient but adding stuff into this at the mo is kinda difficult.

Sweet riffs.. That was really well done - sorry but I didn't really care for the drums - they felt a little emotionless? flat? .. Oh well - the guitar was great though - Took it in a few unexpected directions here and there - a few notes that were hard to see coming - This was another great track.

Damn ... and to think... your stuff's been here for months and I'm only now hearing any of it...

- also - really good job with the compression (file compression that is) seemed like a very long submission considering it only used 2.5MB

This is a very good track - It conjures some pretty strong imagery - Most of the instruments were great but there was something synthetic about some of it - Some of the instruments sounded a little , well, generated... That is - they didn't sound like real instruments - maybe it was the timpanis ? - overall this is a well composed track! I would only suggest adding a little more variety with the instruments - I could hear mostly what sounded like strings and ...ummm... french horns maybe? - muted brass basically - If you added a few more supporting melodies - woodwinds and such - and divided the strings up a little more - lower notes to bigger strings - higher notes up on smaller ones - that sorta thing it might have a 'bigger' sound to it.

Oh hell - don't mind me - I'm just rambling on and on now...

It was VERY good!

Well, I do agree that some of the instruments kinda sound generated, But it's all i got though, and the timpani's actually got kinda good feedback from some other guys.

And indeed, it was french horns.
