a little syncopation eh?

Syncopation never hurt anyone! - Something about this sounds so familiar though - I can't quite put my finger on it... Pre-Existing loops maybe? Can't tell..

Either way - it's quite smooth enough and it goes down nice and easy so it gets a 5.

I love that you're experimenting a little with glitching up the track a bit. That's my thing - really glitchy filthy percussion - You could have pushed it a bit farther - make the transition from smooth to really chopped up.

Keep it up though - really nice work.

I mentioned in another review that you should consider a hip-hop/idm mix - I've been looking for a hip-hop artist or two that would be interested in a collab like that - if you're interested then contact me and we'll blow the doors off of this place.

Quriky responds:

Mos defiate Ill get back to you on that foe sure glad you liked it!!

Nice track

The piano could have been either a little more Rhodesish or a little more music-boxy this sounded like it fell right in between - I would have liked a smoother set of keys. Perhaps an ever so slightly longer attack?

The hits were... a little less than awesome but not too bad overall. The Vox took away - you really should have processed it a little. the whole ya-ga-yaw thing just didn't feel right - sounded more like someones laxative was kickin in and they were trying not to shit themself...

:D

The SFX that you used for the transition between the lullaby and the hook was way too high - both in colume and in frequency.

Your percussion was good and the melody itself was also nice.

Overall a good job though - I'd love to hear something like this segway into some IDM but then that's not really your style - it could work though - if you ever want to try it just contact me.

I'm voting 4 - there was too much more you could have done with this and it seemed to end very abrubptly.

One of your better tracks though!

peace

Quriky responds:

Thanks ill think about it but Iuno what IDM is? lol

Hmmmm

Needs a little polich here and there - beats themselves are alright if a little repetitive but that's not necessarily a bad thing for this style.

I have to be honest - I hated the timbres - the instruments used for the bassline were annoying - they felt way too thin and weak which took away from the piece. Fatten up that bass - add a subbass perhaps?

Not sure if you're sidechaining or compressing the persussion but - or if you're even doing either - again - my biggest complaint was that it just wasn't fat enough - the gated drums were good but the overall impression of this track was that it was an amateur piece.

To fix that you'll need to get better samples and work on the instruments a little.

Other than that it was decent work - I'm voting 4/5 on this.

Quriky responds:

yeah threw this together at three in the morn jumped up made that sick bass thing but timbre i could of put more thought intothanks for the input

Awesome job as usual!

Damn Rucklo - you da man!

Really nice work here - absolutely top notch.

you get teh 5!

Rucklo responds:

Hey man! Glad ya enjoyed this old piece of shit :D

<3

Thanx alot mate!

Excellent work!

completely wrong genre though :)

There's very little about this that I would consider ambient - I think you'd get a lot more downloads if it were submitted under a different genre. Sounded like a mix of VG and Orchestral to me - but then, what do I know...

All around great work though RyeGuy!

This was a well constructed bit of music.

The only thing that I could suggest is that you vary the velocity of your notes to make it more dynamic and to give the feeling that it was actually played by a person.

More often than not, when people use piano, or most other instrumetns for that matter, they forget to adjust the velocity for the notes and every note sounds like it was hit with the same exact amount or pressure - which in effect it is... This is usually a dead giveaway that it was sequenced and I personally feel that it takes away from the piece just a bit.

Try it with your next submission and if I'm wrong then I apologize but I think it'll help give your music a new level of expression.

Keep it up man - this is fantastic work and it most definitely rates my 5!

RyeGuyHead responds:

I think youll see the velocity changes in the piano in spring daze...
thanks for the advice

Ahhh, the obligatory PX9 remix

OK - the 8 for originality is actually pretty high - usually anything that's a remix will get a lower score in that area from me but I added a few back on because this is actually a very different and quite original interpretation of the song.

Diversity only lost a point - not sure why - it just felt right.

Quite clear enough for the portal.

Effort - lost a single point and only because I think you could have pushed this just a hair parther - the slower tempo in the beginning almost made me expect a huge tempo change - yes that may be trite but still, I think it could have been very cool - go from half to original tempo to double... no worries because:

Overall I'm scoring it 9 and 5

I'm sure that if you spread word around a bit this would be picked up for a submission.

amibent responds:

Thanks...
I gotta keep up with posting

Trancy!

you get a 5!!

PERVOK responds:

I munch down the 5, cause I eat penguins!

W00T! :D

Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!

The filtering was great - really nice track.

Great job on this overall - very hypnotic, nice timbres - and it's dedicated to me... ha ha - that's awesome. You really made my day - Thanks again!

Now you must email me the source and allow me to remix it!! Unless you used FL in which case I can't do a thing with it .. heh

Of course, you'll get 10's and a 5 from me for this one.

I only regret that I couldn't have given you the first review!

Keep it up man - you kick ass.

PERVOK responds:

No man, YOU kick ass :D

As for remxing it, yeah, i did it in FL, but I can like, quickly make a MIDI version of it, then you can do as you please :)

Thanks for the review!

Upped your score

That sucks that you got hit so quickly - I 5'd it.

Not a bad track at all - very reminiscient of Uematsu's work.

Great harmony - some of the instruments sounded just a hair synthetic though - other than that you did a very nice job.

Khuskan responds:

I individualy mastered all instruments, which in reflection probably wasn't the best idea. I was battling clipping all the way through and couldn't get the clarinet to be loud enough over the strings. Well, that's lazyness for ya.

Percussion...

Drums Of Fury (Download)
Genre: Music - Drum N Bass

Don't you mean "Drum & ... more drum" ?

Odd titles on your tracks - this was a decent percussion track but it really didm't sound all that furious to me :D

As it stands - percussion only I can only vote 4 on this track -- :(

Slow this down a hair - get rid of half the snares and mix it with an extended version of "Rythmic Sadness" and it'll be worth the 5

Peace!

UnrealClock responds:

"Drum... & More Drum"

I do all of the above. I mean it. I can back it up too.
