Not bad...

For a start... This was decent as a work in progress or as a smaller part of a bigger project...

On it's own it'll most likely get through the portal but it felt really incomplete. After the second or third round back and forth it got really repetitive...

Take this - rework it (graphics weren't great at all) and make it part of a bigger game.

And here you go!

Thanx dude

decent but...

Well - this game was alright - not GREAT - not "wow I'm gonna spend money on it" great - but for the portal it was good...

My only compaints are that This movie, like several others - popcap comes to mind, looks to me like a marketing strategy - I can hear it now - "man how can we sell this thing? - I KNOW - there's this site called newgrounds that's dedicated to flash work - let's try there!" - sort of shameless...

Oh well - I wish you (and your team) the best but I wouldn't waste money on this... It needs to have that "crack factor" to get me to reach for my wallet and it just wasn't there this time...

Good luck!

FINALLY a GOOD tutorial!

I've seen so many really bad and downright useless tutorials posted here...

I didn't bother going through everything - I just skimmed it - but from what I saw you did a GREAT job putting this together.

I'm sure this will help alot of people out there who may not be familiar with flash, photoshop, swift or NG for that matter ...

Really nice - keep up the great work!

If you looked at everything you would probably have given this higher then an 8.
I understand you didnt watched everything in the tut though. It has over 600 pages of info (takes a few hours to read everything)

pretty good

This would be really cool if you can get the balls to interact with each other as well as the walls - would be fun...

needs a little work...

It's still a bit buggy - You could make alot of improvement but it does function...Not worthy of the front page but also not so bad as to get blammed.
A few things you may want to check -
on firing - you can always reset your shot by firing another - you should consider allowing one or two shots at a time and disable the fire function until one shot is off of the screen. The info displayed at the bottom - how much is really necessary? and the timer seems to count down into the negatives - is this intentional and if so then why? Also there is enough happening on screen that it's a little hard to even read the info at the bottom anyway - for things like progress and damage - etc. consider using a visual element in place of textual data. The movement works - but it's not very pretty - you may want to smooth that out a bit.

Decent job though overall - interactives are difficult - I know... keep it up!

Needs some work but a decent start

You need to work on the graphics and sound - this could be a much better game if you replace the flat sketchy graphics with something thats fleshed out a bit more. Consider using sprites created from 3D - poser works well for that sort of thing - TrueSpace, Cinema4d - and if you look around enough you can find free versions of alot of that software (not pirate but FREE versions) Drop a note if you want some more info on where you can look for that kind of stuff. Sound is WAY distorted - too loud reduce the gain a bit and it will work much better.

You show promise though - which is WAY more than I can say for MOST users who submit.

DONT abandon this - rework it - go through a symbol at a time and exchange what's there for something better - get help if you need it (but dont join a crew or a clan or any other group of smackheads for it)- rework the sound and don't use as much compression on the background jpg's - or consider vector backgrounds - this project could be very good with a little more time.

Really good

Not the best that I've seen from miniclip though - in fact, this is one of the less exciting titles i've seen from there...

still really nice though.

Really great job.

I don't mean to offend you but how much of the work that you've been submitting is yours? - Are you the sole creator | do you work as part of a team? The reason I ask is that I work for a multimedia company and I know that alot of the time there is a substantial team effort involved with stuff like this - especially with viral marketing tools and games for lease to other websites etc.

if(it actually is %100 your work){
super kudos to you and you're doing a fantastic job.
}else{
are you just promoting the website to increase revenue?
}

All in all though really nice work. keep it up and good luck!

Not a bad start.

Nice buildings - you'll need an orthographic character as well - using 3d rendered buildings and a pseudo sprite based character doesn't work very well... - also consider creating a backdrop (ground and what-not) that fits better. Nice use of the "go from here to there" scripts with the character though - simulated collision detection seemed to work well...
Lose the sound or rework it - the background noise is too loud - soften it up a little - make the main rain loop(s) a little longer and break up the ambient noises into pieces - for instance - use two or three 8 to 10 second soft rain sounds and another dozen or so ambient noises - birds, frogs, additional thunder - things like that - then loop the rain sounds and have it choose randomly between the two or three each time - also randomize the ambients - play em two at a time or so with something like a 2 or 3 percent chance of playing at all - this should improve the ambience greatly.
Keep working on it as it does look like it has the potential for a really cool mini-game...
Good Luck!

I do all of the above. I mean it. I can back it up too.
