Almost as good as the original

Not a bad game - but honestly, I liked the first one much better. The new features are great, don't get me wrong, but after playing the first one, this seems a bit clunky.

There seem to be a few bugs here and there as well
- sometimes enemies stop moving and sit there just waiting to be killed
- mines stay on screen for what seems like a very very long time
- Several times, the life meter did not change, I was killed 4 or 5 times in a row and the remaining lives counter didn't change at all.

I have the latest player installed so I don't think it's due to a version conflict. I hope that helps you a little.

All in all a great game but it didn't quite meet my expectations.

Good job though! You rock.

I'm not too sure what you mean by "clunky". Its interesting that you think the first one was better. In my opinion this one is 2 or 3 times as good. It has more features, bugs have been removed, it has a bigger playing area, it runs faster, you can even save your best score. I'm not sure what there is that could be worse than the original.

As for the bugs..

The first one is because you are picking up a stop time powerup. Its not a bug, its supposed to happen.

Mines staying for a while could also be due to the same thing.

The meter not changing could be because you are picking up extra lives as you get killed. Ive played the game a lot and haven’t noticed the health not changing, so i think it must just be that.

Thanks a lot for your review anyway :) its always good to get peoples thoughts and opinions. Much appreciated.

And here you go!

Nice job...

BORKOYz responds:

Thanx dude

FINALLY a GOOD tutorial!

I've seen so many really bad and downright useless tutorials posted here...

I didn't bother going through everything - I just skimmed it - but from what I saw you did a GREAT job putting this together.

I'm sure this will help alot of people out there who may not be familiar with flash, photoshop, swift or NG for that matter ...

Really nice - keep up the great work!

GAMECUBICLE responds:

If you looked at everything you would probably have given this higher then an 8.
I understand you didnt watched everything in the tut though. It has over 600 pages of info (takes a few hours to read everything)

Not bad...

was this originally meant as a viral marketing tool? The pseudo first person shooter mouse click boom interface was decent. the third person perspective along with the 'tracking' of the weapon while moving the mouse around was also good. Was this ever actually used by Sony? Depending on who you dealt with they can be anything from pretty cool to giant pains in the ass... A while back I did marketing/promo materials for the Sony Picture Perfect (playstation crap) and it was very difficult at times to get approval for ideas - more often than not, the MBA's frowned on, complained about and finally killed anything resemblish originality or creativity... If you DO work in the field, drop me a comment or a reply and we'll talk a bit about contract work... If you don't, or aren't interested then nevermind all of this, good luck in the future and keep submitting!

ChrisKempt responds:

Hi There...

Well yes this is intended to be viral, I like to submit things here first because I think you lot are a much harder audience to please and therefore we can judge better whether the things we produce are good or not.

On that subject, thanks to you all for all the compliments on here, it means a lot.

As for contracting etc... well we're always up for more work! We are based in the UK though so I'm not sure if that would be a problem. You can check us out and get in touch at: http://www.kempt.co.uk

Well thanks again and have fun!

Not great but not terrible either.

This isn't a great submission - nothing I would write home about but compared to some recent submissions it was far from bad. - to make it better I would recode it so that the angle of deflection would change depending on where you hit with your paddle, do something - anything - so that it isn't so monotonous - and lose the music it was a little funny at first but then 12 seconds later it got really annoying - add sound effects - power-ups maybe? - choose a difficulty level perhaps? - I think that you chose a difficult road - as Pong° was the first video game available - ever - it is also the most difficult concept to use if you really want to impress someone because so many others have created so many variations....

Keep it up though - I didn't mean to discourage you - I just wasn't really that impressed by this entry.

ThePurityClock responds:

Well it takes all kinds i guess.

Needs something...

Not a bad submission but not great either. I think this should be fleshed out a bit more - add a few more obstacles - try adding two keys instead of just the spacebar so that you could control the rotation of the bar - either clockwise or counterclockwise and this would allow you to create better puzzles with more interesting obstacles. Sound wouldn't be a bad thing here either...

Needs a little work but you obviously spent a little time action scripting so I'm trying not to be too harsh.

Keep it up!

Destroyer2012 responds:

You can reverse the rotation, press UP arrow key

Really good scripting, but a little repetitive

Not a bad example of action scripting. Controls are good everything works together nicely. This is a good engine as far as action script goes but the actual gameplay is a little weak. If the gameplay could be enhanced this would be a great submission.

Denvish responds:

Hmmmm. Problem is, I'm not exactly sure how to go about improving the gameplay, particularly being restricted by the %CPU the game already uses. I may have to recode & optimise things somewhat.

I do all of the above. I mean it. I can back it up too.
