Chilled the feck out

Nice and laid back - I'm really diggin the sax that you've been using in a few of your tracks. It's got a great feel to it. I also really like the changeup and bitcrushing at 4:00 - the vox are cool as well. Nice job -=5/5=-

Finish it!

my sax needs some work on it. note to self
thanks buddy

Front.....

Nice bit of industrial here - puts me in mind of Front Line Assembly or Front 242.
Good job. -=5/5=-

I heard Front Line Assembly and Front 242 a little. They are not bad, :D

Thanks!

Good stuff

Not my thing at all but you did a great job on it. The production was great - the timbres were exactly what they should be. The early percussion made for a nice little change-up - I would have expected a more relentless clubby thing happening throughout and I think you made a good decision to avoid starting and ending with nothing more than a solid 4x4.

-=5/5=-

Nice job!

Good stuff - processed world/ethno samples are always nice. Was that a kalimba with a short delay on it in there? Either way - I dig it. Nice arrangement - levels all seemed about where they should be - keep it up mate.

-=5/5=-

Punishment, Crime, Sex, Love, Angst, and Music

The only advice I can give is to take a closer look at your mix - maybe it's the mp3 compression but your low end seems to suffer a little. Lots of stuff is fighting for those all important low frequencies. When there are so many timbres trying to take up the same space something always ends up losing. Maybe a little eq work and a bit of sidechaining - or tweaking of it if it's already there - could clear that right up though.

Other than that, this is another unique chunk of music.

Keep it up!

Grimdustrial

There was such a bizarre lack of tradition in this piece that I imagine a LOT of people will crap on it. It's doesn't conform to any standards and it's just plain odd. I'm not sure that I can honestly say I liked this one - but I can still appreciate what you're doing with it.

In the bigger picture, it doesn't really matter what I think though. What's important here is that you probably had a good time putting this together and to hell with anyone else's opinon.

Keep doing your thing man!

Anti-Trance Trance

Has many of the same qualities as trance - it's just not what people are used to hearing in clubs. The bottom end is a bit muddy though - you might want to roll the lower frequancies off of the abss just a bit on your next track that's like this. Crisp it up a bit, you know?

Again, I'll bet you got sucked into this while making it - I can easily see an hour going by before you realize how much time you've spent.

It's dirty and brash and completely different. Strange and wonderful stuff.

I get it.

Obviously the last reviewer is unable to understand this.

I think I know where you're coming from with this and I definitely do understand the appeal... I've made tracks similar to this - where you can't quite put your finger on it but you get sucked into it. It does have an oddly hypnotic quality. Yes it's grimy - yes it's abrasive and yes it's relentless but those are the very cool qualities that make this a completely unique sonic assault.

I can hear similarities in your other tracks and I think I have a better feel for where you're coming from.

I never understood why people who can't appreciate something for what it is feel the need to try to impose their own narrow points of view on you.

I'm diggin' this track either way.

Keep doing what you're doing - some of us appreciate the new, the different and the strange stuff that can only be made by courageous souls that aren't afraid to take a walk where others are too uncomfortable to tread. I feel sorry for them in a way...

Damn nice bit of work.

You've been nice enough to offer other people reviews and I'm surprised that more people haven't returned the favor on this track.

As far as DnB goes this hit the mark just fine. I read the other comments on this and I couldn't help but wonder what Billtog was expecting from DRUM and BASS other than what was there... Oh well... Obviously He doesn't know what the hell he's talking about... I can't believe he gave you a 1/10 on this...

I thought it was a damn fine track - I gave a 9/10 so that there would be some room for improvement... After all, you did say it was a WIP :)

I thought you did a fine job with the percussion - you mixed it up a bit and for this style, I don't think that it was too repetitive at all... The bass was decent - I thought it fit well and the only suggestion that I could give there would be to punch it up just a hair in spots - maybe compress it a bit more aggressively to boost it all up a bit and then either add a sidechain (or adjust it if it's already there) on the bass to duck it a little based on the percussion...

All in all a very solid track and I could definitely hear this played on BassDrive or DnB_netRadio.

Even though you've said it's unfinished - it sounds finished enough to get a 5/5.

Keep up the great work!

WizardSleeve responds:

Thanks man, very much apreciated. Yeah I plan on working on the bass a bit, and also the timestretching on the percussion in the second half is a bit over done i think.

Yeah billtog obviously don't understand drumfunk DnB.. or DnB in general, no worries i am very thick skinned.

I am thining about adding some melodic pads in there as well dunno if it would fit exactly

I do all of the above. I mean it. I can back it up too.
